THE REFUGE

The refuge is located at the top of  Northern Grigna, highly panoramic point of the Alpine Mountains arch.

Named after  Luigi Brioschi, pioneer of the Lombard alpinism and President of the Milan Section, as a memory of the first ascent of  Nordend, Monte Rosa Group, accomplished in 1876.

HOW TO REACH THE REFUGE

Shortly before reaching Colle Balisio (723 m) on  SP 62 to Valsassina, turn left on a dirt road, open to cars, that arrives at Sacred Heart Chapel (882m) and the adjacent  parking lot. Take the steep muletrack on the left that leads us to Antonella al Pieleral  Refuge. From here the path climbs first in direction of the top, then turns South and with some more bends reaches Bivacco Merlini, a small emergency masonry structure. Continue along the ridge and reach the panoramic Brioschi Refuge (3.30 h). In winter, from the Antonietta del Pieral Refuge take a north-western direction towards a well visible hut, from where we reach the ridge going in the south-western direction, then follow the poles all the way up to the refuge.
