THE REFUGE

The refuge is located at Alpe Inferiore of Lex Blanche in Veny Valley, at the base of Pyramides Calcaires, in view of Aigulle des Glaciers.

Wanted by engineer Giuseppe Soldini in memory of his wife Elisabetta Montanaro, after whom it is named, and of his sister Teresa Grandi, fallen in the mountains, it was inaugurated in 1953 and donated to our section. In 1983 there was an important restructuring of the building, equipped with modern bathrooms and a wide winter room. The refuge is an important base for high altitude excursions, completing on the Italian side the chain of refuges for the classic trek around Monte Bianco.  Refuge Elisabetta is also the at the final leg of  Alta Via N° 2 of Aosta Valley.

HOW TO REACH THE REFUGE

Leave the highway at Courmayeur,  continue on SS 26, direction Monte Bianco Tunnel, up to La Saxe.

Turn left, then right, and take the communal road to Entrèves. After some metres turn left and continue on the road to Veny Valley for 7 km, up to La Visaille and leave the car. From here the refuge can be reached on foot in about 2 hrs.
